This Song is not on the Printed CD... this is a Bonus Track
It was composed just prior to Pesach (Passover) 1973 while I was preparing to conduct our annual Seder. Though I had experienced and led many Seders, it struck me for the first time that fulfilling the Mitzvah (commandment) of “And you shall tell it to your children on that day saying…” (Exodus 13:8) was more than just telling a story about a past event. Rather, the telling is about a continuous redemptive process that emphasizes an ongoing relationship between God and the Jewish people.
For over three millennia, the Jewish people have found themselves enslaved and persecuted by many nations and world powers. Defying all logic and probability, our small and powerless nation has survived overwhelming odds and managed to rise from near annihilation to begin again.
The redemption from Egyptian tyranny set the paradigm for the rest of Jewish history. We owe our present post-holocaust existence to God’s direct Divine intervention.
Celebrating our exodus from Egypt and “telling” it over to our children, places them also in this divine equation that attests to our everlasting covenant with God.
lyrics

Not only were our ancestors redeemed by the Holy One, Blessed is He,
Even we were redeemed with them.
