Hallel prayer, Psalms 118:21-25, words by King David, music by Reb Yosil Rosenzweig
The Children of Israel are on a mission from G-d. This mission forces us to struggle once more with the two-rejected son’s, Ishmael and Esau. Over the course of this horrible two thousand year old dispersion, were have, and still are, confronting these biblical tensions. For most of this time, Israel has remained passive while under the thumbs of Roman (Esau) and Arab (Ishmael) dominance.
This Davidic poem alludes to the messianic future when Israel will not only spread its light across the globe, but those nations that despised and abused us will bend their knees in submission to the King Messiah and the one and only God that he represents. Ana HaShem – please God save us this instant, please God bring us success.
